Nam was born in South Korea and moved to the United States at the age of four. She grew up in the suburbs of Boston and moved to Los Angeles.

She began her journalism career reporting in Spokane at the ABC affiliate KXLY-TV.

Nam joined KOMO 4 News in June 2003 as a general assignment reporter and shortly thereafter, her duties included anchoring the KOMO 4 Weekend Morning News with Theron Zahn.

The southern Californian transplant is very familiar with the state of Washington. She graduated from Washington State University and her family called Yakima home for ten years.

Both Nam and her chocolate Labrador Retriever, Scanner, are members of Citizens for Off-Leash Areas and Serve Our Dog Areas.

Scanner is a retired DockDog! Nam is a proud member of the Korean American Professional Society and the Fisher Broadcasting Minority Scholarship Board.
