Ken's E-mails: Lots of barking over pit bulls
By Ken Schram
SEATTLE -- A lot of people barking at me over my commentary critical of Lakewood city officials for working on a new law that picks on pit bulls as being inherently dangerous dogs. (Read earlier commentary here.)
My point: It's the owners, not the dog, that create problems. From James D. Miller: "(Ken) you're crazy...(Pit Bulls are) dangerous and in my opinion should be eliminated, or at the very least confined in a covered chain linked enclosure." Jason Radabaugh: "While owners are ultimately responsible for their dogs, we should not allow Pit Bulls in our neighborhoods any more than we should allow lions, bobcats or wolves." John McMahan: "Pit Bulls are dangerous…every one of them…To be around one, or to trust one, is to invite disaster." Lance Degnan: "Labradors retrieve, Pointers point...Put Bulls kill...All living pit bulls should be put down and owning one should be outlawed." Steve Noble: "How many people have been ripped to shreds by Beagles lately?...Regardless of dog owner stupidity, or maybe because of it, pit bulls probably shouldn't even exist." And finally, from Brad Mosier: "The people that own, and worse yet breed (Pit Bulls) are as stupid as stupid can be...The Pit Bull is a time bomb waiting to go off." Bow wow Brad. Thanks for writing everyone. Have a great weekend. Have something to say to Ken? E-mail him at kenschram@komo4news.com. And be sure to join Ken, along with John Carlson, on "The Commentators", which airs every weekday from 3-6 p.m. on AM 570 KVI. It's a lively exchange of information, insight and perspective with two guys who don't agree on much, but still manage to enjoy each other as they tackle issues of the day. Even better, callers are invited in on the verbal action. |
