The Schrammie: Ego disguised as political tenacity
By Ken Schram
It's time.
The numbers say it's all but over. The pundits say it's all but over. Not her. She just doesn't get it. So would Hillary Rodham Clinton, pull up all those yard signs and come on down. After taking a thumping in North Carolina and barely eking out a victory in Indiana, Hillary Rodham Clinton is loaning herself more money and begging super delegates to stick with her. The former first lady has lost to Barack Obama in more states. She trails in the popular vote. She trails in the number of pledged delegates. To win the nomination, she would have to take about 70 percent of the remaining super delegates. About the only one who thinks that's even a remote possibility is Hillary Clinton. And that is why publicly and privately, she's being asked to bow out. So for failing to grasp how polarizing her campaign has become to the Democratic party; for disguising her ego as political tenacity and for being a stubborn, obstinate candidate who won't do the math, take a bow Sen. Clinton, because this "Schrammie" is for you. --- Have something to say to Ken? E-mail him at kenschram@komo4news.com. And be sure to join Ken, along with John Carlson, on "The Commentators", which airs every weekday from 3-6 p.m. on AM 570 KVI. It's a lively exchange of information, insight and perspective with two guys who don't agree on much, but still manage to enjoy each other as they tackle issues of the day. Even better, callers are invited in on the verbal action. |
