By KOMO Staff

WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. -- A 17-year-old boy was killed after crashing a stolen pickup truck on Sunday morning, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The accident happened in the 4900 block of Aldrich Road around 4:10 a.m.while the boy was driving a stolen 2001 Ford F-150 pickup truck. Trooper Kirk Rudeen said the boy failed to slow down for a right turn, causing the truck to skid onto the shoulder and roll.

The teen, Miles Davis (Yonally) of Bellingham, was thrown from the truck and died.

Rudeen said the teen may have survived the crash if he had been wearing a seat belt.

The investigation is ongoing.
