The Schrammie: $4 million down the crapper

The Schrammie: $4 million down the crapper

By Ken Schram

Over $4 million down the crapper.

And I mean that literally.

So who do we have to thank for flushing hard-earned taxpayer dollars down some very expensive commodes?

Here's a hint: would Seattle City Councilembers Nick Licata and Jan Drago please put the plunger away and come on down?

More than anyone else, these two talked up toilets that technologically tantalized hookers and drug addicts who used the loos for all sorts of nefarious purposes.

Many a naysayer warned nick and jan about the expense of these self-cleaning puppies.

Many cautioned nick and jan about the illegal, unsafe and unsanitary haven they would provide.

Nick and Jan remained oblivious.

Nick and Jan remained steadfast.

Nick and Jan stayed stubborn.

So now the city will have to pay another $500,000 to get out of the toilet contract and $250,000 more to put things back the way they were.

See Nick wave to our money.

See Jan kiss our dollars goodbye.

It's been fun with Nick and Jan.

And very, very expensive.

So Nick and Jan get the "Schrammie."

And they're lucky the bobble head doesn't poop.

And be sure to join Ken, along with John Carlson, on "The Commentators", which airs every weekday from 3-6 p.m. on AM 570 KVI.

It's a lively exchange of information, insight and perspective with two guys who don't agree on much, but still manage to enjoy each other as they tackle issues of the day. Even better, callers are invited in on the verbal action.
