Kent man arrested for homicide in wife's death

By KOMO Staff

A man was arrested this morning in the death of his wife, who was found shot to death more than six months ago in the house they shared in an upscale neighborhood east of Kent. They had been married for more than 20 years.

The suspect, Tracy Floren, 64, was arrested about 11 a.m. Thursday in Sequim, where he is overseeing the construction of a house that was to be the couple’s “dream home”.

The arrest was made with the assistance of the Sequim Police Department. Sequim officers and sheriff's detectives were able to arrest Floren without incident.

Nancy Floren, 56, was found dead about 6:15 a.m. on Sept. 2, 2007, after deputies went to the Floren’s home in the 20300 block of 102nd Ave SE to investigate an alarm activation from the residence.

The body of the victim was found in a pool of blood in a hallway on the main floor of the house. She had been shot twice in the head.

Deputies found a revolver next to the body, but it was not the murder weapon. The gun used in the homicide has not been found.

Over the next few months several detectives worked on the case, eventually leading to today’s arrest. The arrest was based on physical evidence found in and near the scene of the homicide, as well as contradictory statements made to detectives by the suspect, said Sgt. John Urquhart of the King County Sheriff's Office.

Detectives are currently bringing Floren back to King County where he will be booked for investigation of first-degree homicide.

It's expected the Prosecutor's Office will file charges the in the next few days.
