Man found dead inside Everett boarding house

EVERETT, Wash. -- Police are investigating the apparent homicide of a man who was found dead late Wednesday afternoon.

Sgt. Robert Goetz said investigators received a call about 4:15 p.m. reporting a homicide at a home in the 3100 block of Lombard Street.

Goetz said police found a man dead in one of the rooms at what he called a "boarding house of sorts." The place is believed to be a home for addicts and those with mental and physical disabilities.

Police believe the man died either on Wednesday or Tuesday.

Police have arrested a 31-year-old Everett man who is a suspect in the case. The man is said to occupy the room where the body was found.

He had just moved in seven days ago, at which time there was no indication that he had any violent tendencies, the building owner told police.

"His mom was with him he looked like a decent person but obviously there some issues here and we going to get to the bottom of it," said building owner Jon Iseman.

It is not known whether the victim was also a resident of the boarding house.

The victim's name has not been released, and the cause of death and the motive were not immediately clear.

The house where the homicide took place has 22 residents, 4 of whom are women. The place is open to addicts trying to quit alcohol or drugs, as well as people with mental or physical disabilities.

The owner said he receives state money to subsidize rent for about half of the tenants. He says he doesn't need to carry a special license because he merely provides housing and doesn't offer any treatment programs on site.
