FACTORIA - A man was rushed to Harborview Medical Center with burns after a self-storage unit where he was working erupted into flames Friday morning, fire officials said.

Lt. Eric Keenan of the Bellevue Fire Department said the man apparently was servicing some equipment around 11 a.m. when a 15-foot-high fireball shot into the air.

Surveillance video of the incident in the 13200 block of SE 30th St. shows the man running from the unit with some of his clothing on fire.

When fire crews arrived at the scene they quickly extinguished the storage unit, but a nearby car developed a gas tank leak that re-ignited the blaze. Firefighters were able to put out the rekindled blaze soon afterward.

Paramedics transported the burn victim to Harborview. The extent of his burn injuries is unknown.

The exact cause of the blaze is still under investigation.

Preliminary damage estimate to the structure is less than $15,000. The content damage was limited to one unit and has not been determined yet.
