Fort Lewis Stryker soldier killed in Iraq

FORT LEWIS, Wash. -- An improvised explosive device killed a Fort Lewis Stryker soldier in Iraq, the Department of Defense announced on Friday.

Defense officials said Cpl. Brandon M.Craig of Earleville, Md., died July 19 in Husayniyah after the device struck his vehicle.

Craig, 25, was assigned to Headquarters & Headquarters Company, 4th Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team) at Fort Lewis, Wash.

Craig enlisted in the army in February of 2006 and reported to Fort Lewis in June of 2006. His unit has been deployed since April of 2007.
