3 hurt when stolen car crashes

TUKWILA, Wash. -- Three people were injured early Thursday when the stolen car they were in crashed into a light pole after speeding away from police.

Seattle police officials say officers spotted the stolen car on southbound Interstate 5 about 2 a.m. and pulled the vehicle over, but the driver sped off as officer's approached.

Police spokesman Mark Jamieson said officers did not chase the vehicle, but the driver crashed into a light pole in the the 4800 block of Interurban Avenue South.

The driver was trapped in the wrecked car and had to be cut out by firefighters. The other four people in the car ran off but were quickly arrested.

Three of the youths were injured and were taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Jamieson said the car had been stolen from Seattle's Beacon Hill neighborhood.
