Local D.J. Missing In Olympic National Park

By KOMO Staff & News Services

CLALLAM COUNTY - Paul Nelson, a disc jockey at KPLU, was reported overdue from a hike in Olympic National Park. He was last seen in Cat Basin, about a mile and-a-half west of Heart Lake in the upper Sol Duc drainage.

Several clues were found just before the search was suspended for the evening--footprints and a campsite were spotted at upper Cat Creek and a helicopter spotted an SOS in a snow patch between Cat Creek and a neighboring creek.

Nelson was alone and has intermediate hiking experience. About 20 people are involved in the search, which will resume Monday at first light.
