Truck with no driver hits bicyclists

By KOMO Staff

SEATTLE -- Two bicyclists were injured Thursday morning when they were struck by a pickup truck in Seattle, but the truck had no one at the wheel.

Police Lt. Sean O'Donnel said a large utility crane was towing the pickup northbound on East Marginal Way when the pickup came loose near the intersection with South Hanford.

O'Donnel said the pickup crashed into two bicyclists who were stopped in a bike lane. Both were taken to Harborview Medical Center, but the severity of their injuries was not known.

"We will be conducting a full investigation here to determine just exactly what happened," O'Donnel said.

After hitting the bicyclists, the pickup continued down the road and crashed into a tree.
