THURSTON COUNTY, Wash. -- A possible child luring attempt inside an elementary school has both detectives and school officials on alert.

The incident took place at the Evergreen Forest Elementary School at 3025 Marvin Road SE south of Lacey on Tuesday afternoon.

Sheriff's deputies said a man approached a 9-year-old girl in the halls around 1 p.m. and asked if she wanted some candy. The question prompted the girl to run to her classroom and tell her teacher what had just happened.

School officials searched the school grounds, but did not find the man. Detectives took over the search. A detailed description of the man was not available.

Anyone with any information about the case is urged to contact detectives at (360)754-4395 or the Thurston County Crime Stoppers at (360) 493-2222.
