OAKVILLE, Wash. (AP) - A State Patrol bomb squad has destroyed what appeared to be a pipe bomb found on the grounds of the school at Oakville in Grays Harbor County.

Undersheriff Rick Scott says the capped copper pipe was found at 9 a.m. Thursday by a deputy investigating a reported burglary. Scott said there was no threat to the school, but students were kept in lockdown in the classrooms as a precaution.

According to the school district, the pipe device was found near a fence surrounding the school's bus barn, which is at the far end of the campus from the school.

Someone had cut a hole in the fence and then went into the bus barn and stole some tools from the barn. The device was found near the hole in the fence.

The bomb squad took the pipe to a nearby quarry, where it was destroyed with an explosive.
