SPANAWAY - The driver of a pickup truck is dead after colliding with a school bus Friday afternoon in Pierce County.
The bus and pickup crashed near the intersection of 224th Street and 50th Avenue East, said Ed Troyer of the Pierce County Sheriff's Office. No children were on the bus at the time of the accident. The school bus driver is shaken up but has no serious injuries. Deputies said the school bus was hit head-on by the pick up truck at a high rate of speed.
