TACOMA, Wash. (AP) - A 23-year-old man who pleaded guilty for his role in a gang-style robbery and murder has been sentenced in Pierce County Superior Court to eight years in prison.

Terrance Lee Scott pleaded guilty Friday to one count of first-degree manslaughter for the the killing of Clifton Nelson, 18, who was beaten, robbed and shot on July 20, 2005 near Sprinker Community Center in Spanaway.

Scott had originally been charged with the state's highest crime - aggravated first-degree murder. Pierce County prosecutors agreed to a lesser charge in return for his testimony against his co-defendants.

His testimony was not needed, but prosecutors honored the agreement.
