Federal Way police officer fires at suspect
By KOMO Staff
FEDERAL WAY - A police officer is on administrative leave after firing his weapon at a car prowl suspect who pointed a gun at him Saturday afternoon.
The suspect was not hit and no one was injured in the incident, police said. According to the Federal Way Police Department, the officer was on routine patrol at about 4:45 p.n. when he saw what appeared to be a car prowl in the area of South 324th Street and Pacific Highway South. When the officer tried to detain the suspect, he fled on foot and the officer gave chase on foot. During the pursuit the suspect pointed a handgun at the officer and the officer fired at the suspect. The suspect kept running, but other officers quickly contained the area and a search soon located the suspect. The man was taken into custody without further incident. Neither the officer nor the suspect was injured during the incident. The investigation is on-going. The officer has just over two years with the Federal Way Police Department and has been placed on administrative leave, which is standard police practice following an officer-involved shooting. |
