Car thief leads police on chase through Everett

EVERETT, Wash. -- A suspected car thief is in custody after leading police on a chase through the city late Monday morning.

Police received a report of a car stolen in the 1000 block of Everett Mall Way around 11 o'clock. An Everett patrol officer and Snohomish County Sheriff's deputy were both in the area at the time of the call and spotted the car going along Everett Mall Way.

The deputy went after the car and a chase ensued.

The chase went along Everett Mall Way and then south on SR-99/Evergreen Way. The thief then struck a car near 112th Street, but no one inside was injured.

The chase ended a short time later and the thief was taken into custody. His name has not been released.
