The 1-year-old puppy doesn't have an owner and doesn't have use of her hind legs. But she sure tries.

"I think she's just like any other one year old dog. She wants to run and doesn't realize she's any different," said Rachel Brewer with Doggy Haven Resort. 

Born with a spinal defect and abandoned as a pup, the Labrador-Whippet mix needs more assistance than most adoptive owners are willing to provide. One overwhelmed owner even gave her back.

Rescue Pup has spent thousands of dollars on MRI, spinal taps, food, and hydrotherapy for Daisy Mae. But now the non-profit, no-kill organization is out of money.

"We've had her posted in over 20 publications," said Joyce Gonzalez of Rescue Pup. "I don't know what we're going to do. We're at our wit's end."

Doggy Haven Resort has allowed Daisy Mae to stay for free for the past five months, but now needs the room to fill reservations.

When rescuers first brought the pup to the resort, she was too weak to stand. Since then she has received weekly swimming lessons that have strengthened her muscles. But the rescuers can no longer afford the weekly lessons, and they're afraid she may regress.

"We've never been this broke. We've been broke but because of the expenses with this little girl it's just drained every resource they've had," said Gonzalez.

She might lack coordination, but the pup isn't short on affection.

"I have never seen a dog that loved everything and everybody (the way she does)," Gonzalez said.

And the rescuers would love to find Daisy Mae a home.
