LAS VEGAS (AP) - Seattle Mariners starter Carlos Silva looked ready for the regular season. His counterpart, the Chicago Cubs' Ted Lilly, did not.

With the wind blowing out, Silva gave up a run and three hits in five innings and the Mariners beat the Cubs 10-2 in a game that featured seven homers, six by the Mariners.

Kenji Johjima hit a three-run homer in a four-run eighth inning for Seattle. Adrian Beltre and Raul Ibanez each belted two-run homers, while Jose Lopez, Mike Morse and Brad Wilkerson each had solo home runs for the winners.

The teams wrap-up the exhibition season Saturday in the second game of the two-day Las Vegas visit.

Silva, a sinker specialist, threw 49 pitches.

"I just was trying to keep the ball down," said Silva, who is scheduled to start next Wednesday in the finale of a three-game set against Texas. "I feel very good. Every pitch, I threw where I wanted to. I got double plays when I needed them."

Cubs starting pitcher Ted Lilly had a tough first three innings, allowing five runs. He went five innings, allowing five runs and eight hits with no walks and four strikeouts.

Alfonso Soriano had a solo homer for Chicago against Silva to lead off the fourth inning.

"People don't believe it, but it's been better that the wind is blowing out. I'd rather have the wind blowing out," said Silva, who signed a $48 million, four-year deal with the Mariners in the offseason after pitching four years for Minnesota.

Lilly will start in the last of a three-game set against Milwaukee in Chicago next Thursday.

This is the second consecutive year that the teams have played a two-game set at Cashman Field, home of the Las Vegas 51s, the Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Notes: The Cubs lost RHP Tim Lahey, claimed off waivers by Philadelphia. Lahey was with the Twins organization in 2007.
