A Whale Of A Show

A Whale Of A Show

By Tracy Vedder

SNOHOMISH COUNTY - The family of the stranded orca whale, Luna, put on quite a show just off the beach at Mukilteo Friday.

The group of L and K pod orcas delighted onlookers.

People first spotted them in Seattle. Then the whales headed north. By the time they hit Mukilteo they were very active and people just loved it.

"It was just spectacular, I was just pitter pattering!" said whale watcher Lori Smith.

Judy Mitts couldn't contain her glee. "I was watching down that way and I saw the waterspouts and I started yelling. It's cool!"

The orcas are following bountiful fish runs, looking for salmon.

People who want to re-unite Luna with his orca family in Puget Sound say this means conditions are ripe here for a successful reunion.
