Have You Seen This Dog?

By April Zepeda

SNOHOMISH - A City of Snohomish woman will stop at nothing to get her dog back, even bringing in a psychic and a private detective to track him down.

But so far the leads have turned up empty.

Addie, a purebred Pekingese, hasn't been the same since her brother Rocky disappeared. She won't play or seek attention -- she just lays in his dog bed waiting for Rocky to come back.

"He just means everything to her," said owner Trisha Howell. "They kiss and play and wrestle and chase each other all day, now she doesn't even want to eat, take a walk or do anything."

Howell is a published children's author who writes books about the adventures of her Pekingese dogs. But ever since Rocky got scared off by fireworks, she's stopped writing to make finding him her full time job.

Howell is working with a pet psychic who says rocky is alive, but unhappy where he is. She has posted hundreds of flyers with his picture, knocked on every door with in a mile radius and hired a detective with a tracking dog.

"I don't have any children. These are my children. I couldn't love them anymore than if they came out of my own body," said Howell of her dogs.

The detective tracked Rocky's scent to a vacant lot, where the trail went cold. He thinks that's where someone picked him up.

"But there was no scent of fear, no scent of another animal, so an animal didn't get him. There were fresh tire tracks, and he (the detective) thought a human had been there," said Howell.

Howell is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads her to Rocky and she's placed lost-dog ads in 13 newspapers.

She says if she doesn't find him, hundreds of children will be disappointed since he comes to schools with her during book readings.

Losing Rocky has left Trisha heartbroken, but she says it's Addie who's inconsolable; Addie who is driving her to any length to bring Rocky home.

If you know anything about Rocky's whereabouts call Howell 425) 501-2398.
