'They're No Spring Chickens'

By John Sharify

OCEAN SHORES - Harold Rockey owns the deli in Ocean Shores. People know him as the deli guy.

But from this day forward, Rockey will be known as: "Mr. November 2006", he says with a smile.

The 50-plus model is one of 13 male centerfolds posing in the buff, for the North Beach PAWS Pet Pin Ups Calendar.

"It's for a good cause," Rockey says.

The models are a few years, or decades, past their prime.

"They're no spring chickens," says Paul Phillips, who took pictures of the models.

In this calendar, dogs get equal billing.

"A lot of people in town want to know if I'm wearing anything and I tell them, only the dog knows for sure," says Rockey.

For $10, you get a pin up calendar featuring Mr. May, police officer Paul Luck. And Mr. March -- veterinarian Dr. Abrishami.

Gordon Baus is the oldest model featured. He's 63.

Phillips carefully choreographed the shots.

"The puppy covers up what otherwise is nude, lude. I mean nude. There's a Freudian slip for you!"

Last year, the calendars sold out in just two weeks. But there are still plenty left for this year.
