Dress Up In Costume Year 'Round!

Dress Up In Costume Year 'Round!

By Sue Romero

SEATTLE - Halloween is just four days away, but if dressing up just once a year isn't enough for you, you can join the hundreds of locals who go masquerading around the city all year round.

They dress up in elaborate costumes of varying themes about every other month in Seattle as part of the Guerilla Masquerade Party -- no, not as in the hairy primate.

"That's the guerilla aspect of it, is that we try and keep it from the places where we're gonna show up," said founder Dan Garlington.

Why? Garlington says, why not? It's all about fun, like their last party.

"The official theme was 'The Good, The Bad and the Mutated,' and it was a superheroes and supervillains theme." It could be a dozen or 100 people...and they've done everything from circus to western to outer space themes. You just never know what you'll be inspired to dress up as.

And Garlington says, "I think it breaks down a lot of the barriers between people. I often see people that have never met before, just hanging out the whole night."

So what are you waiting for? He says, "If you enjoy throwing on a costume, it's definitely for you."
