Review: The Rolling Stones Can Still Rock

By Brian Gregory

SEATTLE - After all these years, they still have it.

The Rolling Stones shook the rafters at KeyArena with more than 20 songs from past and present. More than 40 years after they formed, the 62-year-old Mick Jagger hasn't lost his edge or his ability to get an audience on its feet.

The Stones took the stage at 9:10 p.m., after a 45-minute set by headbangers Motley Crue, and I have to say, my opinion hasn't changed in 20 years, I would compare this band to a good vacuum. enough said

Back to Jagger, Keith Richards, Ron Wood, Charlie Watts, and their accompanying players. The show began as it should have with "Start Me Up," featuring Jagger in a sparkly tuxedo jacket, turquoise shirt, rhinestone belt and black leather pants.

Followed by "Shattered," and "She's So Cold." The first new song of the night was "Oh No, Not You Again."

Another new song from the new CD "A Bigger Bang,"and maybe my favorite "Rain Fall Down," featured Jagger on electric guitar.

One of the night's highlights was the group's tribute to Ray Charles, featuring "Night Time Is the Right Time."

Other crowd pleasers included "Miss You," "Get Off My Cloud," "Honky Tonk Women," "Out of Control," "Sympathy for the Devil," "Brown Sugar" and finally "satisfaction."

Now seeing as though it was way past our bedtime we had to go but as we were leaving heard the encore "You Can't Always Get What You Want" which was followed, according to our pal Gene Stout at the P-I by "Jumpin' Jack Flash." Gene doesn't have to get up at 4 a.m.

Thanks for listening!
