Small Boat Piques Interest In Missing Girl Case

Small Boat Piques Interest In Missing Girl Case

By KOMO Staff

LAKEWOOD - Investigators in the disappearance of 10-year-old Adre'Anna Jackson are taking a hard look at a small boat found tied up Friday morning across American Lake from her home.

Police are not calling it a break in the case, just something they're going to look into as part of their investigation. The small 15-foot boat with an outboard motor was found across the lake at Northlake Park and had been tied up to the public pier for at least a few days -- and no one had come to claim it. P> Police didn't find anything obvious with the boat, but they took it into custody to investigate just in case.

Police believe the boat came from a nearby community boathouse.

Adre'Anna disappeared one week ago after she headed out to go to school, not realizing that school had been canceled due to snow.

Despite an intensive search of the neighborhood and lake, there's still no sign of her. However, her mother remains optimistic:

"You hear the stories how some kids get dropped off, several months later," said Yvette Gervais. "This may last quite a while; I'm not going to give it up."

The FBI had been out on American Lake searching with sonar equipment for the past few days but that operation ended Thursday with no sign of the girl.

In the meantime, the search continues, as does the tedious task of interviewing the 51 sex offenders that live in the immediate area.
