Police Locate Person Of Interest In Adre'Anna's Death

By Tracy Vedder

LAKEWOOD - Police have found their mystery man that could help them solve the death of 10-year-old Adre'Anna Jackson.

Ever since two neighbor boys found Adre'Anna's body in a Lakewood field, police have searched for anyone familiar with the area. In particular, they've looked for one man who knows and frequents the field regularly.

Tuesday they found him.

His name is Spencer Grant, although he goes by Spence. And police have been looking for him for more than a week.

He's not a suspect in Adre'Anna's death. When she disappeared from her Lakewood home last December, he was in jail.

But police know that Grant spent a lot of time in and around this field where Adre'Anna's remains were discovered. They want to know what he may know.

"And the fact that he frequents that area, he knows a lot of the other transients that are in and out of there," says Lakewood Police Lt. Bret Farrar, "we think he'll just be a wealth of information for the investigation."

Grant allegedly told people he'd seen Jackson's body long before the neighbor boys discovered it. Police say he's also very familiar with who hangs around this field. That might help them solve the case.

"I think that things are coming together," says Lt. Farrar, "I think that we have some good leads to follow up on, it's going to take some time though a lot of it's going to boil down to forensics."

Since Adre'Anna disappeared, the reward in this case has jumped to $60,000. That's led to a lot of tips -- and the one Tuesday that led them to Grant. Grant has several outstanding warrants, and he'd allegedly been hiding from police.

"He didn't want to go to jail," says Lt. Farrar. "Basically that was it, he doesn't want to go to jail so he was dodging us."

Another important part of this case - how did Adre'Anna die? The truth is we may never know.

Police only recovered skeletal remains. The Medical Examiner tells us that may make it impossible to ever determine how she died.
