When Is The Driest Day To Plan An Outdoor Activity?

When Is The Driest Day To Plan An Outdoor Activity?

By Steve Pool

SEATTLE - If you've ever planned a big outdoor wedding, or other large outdoor gathering, you might have noticed that this time of year seems to be the most popular. That's because if you ever needed to plan for a sunny day in Seattle well ahead of time, the last week in July and first week of August are your best chance.

In the last 110 years, it has only rained 9 times on July 22 -- tied with July 30, Aug. 1 and Aug. 4 for the driest days of the year. (Although it used to just be Aug. 4 and July 30 at 8 times, but it rained on both days last year, so we're not due.)

That's why the big SeaFair events are this and next weekend -- they did their weather homework!
