What Is The Current Summer Outlook?

By Steve Pool

SEATTLE - It's been a bit gloomy at times the past couple of weeks, and many are wondering if this means we're in for a gray summer.

The long-range forecasts say no. For July, climatologists are forecasting that the entire western U.S. will be warmer than normal -- including the Northwest. As for rain amounts, they're expecting normal levels, which isn't much for July as it's usually our second-driest month of the year.

Averaged out for the entire summer (July through September), the long-range forecast says we should have normal summertime temperatures, with slightly below-normal rainfall.

But some good news for those who like the rain -- the long-range outlook for autumn is calling for above normal precipitation and around normal temperatures.
