When Was The Hottest Summer In Seattle?

By Steve Pool

SEATTLE - Spring is just under way, but we know a lot of you are already looking ahead to summer. Seattle is blessed with one of the best summer climates around, averaging a comfortable high of 70 in June and September, and 75 in July and August.

But 1967 was probably a year many wish they had air conditioning, as the average high in August was 83.7 degrees -- the hottest month recorded in Seattle.

On the flip side, this year marks the 10-year anniversary of the summer that wasn't, when we went four straight weeks of below-normal temperatures in July of 1993, leaving us with a paltry average high of 68.6 for both July -- and August to boot.
