Just How Wet Is This March?

SEATTLE - March is about 2/3 over, and already, it'll go down as one of the wetter March's on record. As of midnight Monday, Seattle has received 6.03 inches of rain, which is the sixth-wettest March since records have been kept at Sea-Tac Airport. With more rain in the forecast this week, we might move up the ladder as the week progresses.

The wettest March was 8.40 inches in 1950. Average rainfall for the entire month is 3.72 inches.

The extra rain has helped us catch up on yearly rainfall totals. Since Jan. 1, we're about 3.5 inches ahead. For the water year, measured from October 1, we've made up several inches from our dry start to the winter. As of Monday, we're only about 0.8" behind for our water year rainfall.
