What Cloud Does Cupid Sit On?

SEATTLE - Ahh, Valentine's Day -- Cupid's busiest day of the year. If you're looking around for the clouds Cupid normally inhabits, look for cumulus clouds. Also known as "fair weather" clouds, these are the clouds that are small and puffy, and known to be in the form of ducks, elephants, or whatever else vivid imaginations can come up with.

Around here, our more common clouds are the stratus -- those are the flat, low-hanging, dark gray clouds that bring us our steady light rains.

On sunny days, the high wispy clouds are called "cirrus." They're as high as 30,000 feet and are made of tiny ice crystals.

On the flip side, the tall, stormy clouds that produce heavy rains, lightning and hail are cumulonimbus clouds, which are graduated cumulus clouds. But cupid knows to stay away from those.
