When's The Safest Day To Plan An Outdoor Picnic?

By Steve Pool

SEATTLE - Statistically speaking, there are 4 days in Seattle that are tied for the honor of having rained the least over the past 109 years.

On July 22, July 30, Aug. 1, and Aug. 4, it has only rained 9 times in the last 109 years. In a general sense, the last weekend in July and first week in August are the driest. That's why the big SeaFair events are held then.

Ironically, this year with our very dry summer, what little rain fell managed to fall on two of the driest days listed above.

The worst day to plan outdoor activities? Nov. 19 is the statistical wettest day of the year, with 82 rainy days in the past 109 years.
